IU Indianapolis Summer Innovation Institute
The IU Indianapolis Summer Innovation Institute is an opportunity to learn about multiple ways that topics of innovation and creativity can be taught within your course structure (whether it be a first-year seminar, general education course, capstone, or major course).
This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Jag Challenge, as well as other innovative practices and activities to instill innovation and creativity into your course. The Jag Challenge is an innovation sprint that you can participate in during Bridge or your fall first-year seminar.
In the Jag Challenge, students work in teams to identify a problem within a specific challenge space. They conduct interviews, develop empathy maps, and ideate solutions for a target individual. It is fun, creative, and all kinds of wild as students work on wicked problems to help the IU Indianapolis campus and community!
As part of the IU Indianapolis Summer Innovation Institute you will:
- Participate in a series of three, two-hour workshops during the summer
- Learn about the “why” of innovation and creativity in the classroom
- Learn about methods of integrating innovation and creativity in your course, including the Jag Challenge, innovation activities, and the Elevate Ventures Origins program
- Develop your first-year seminar as you integrate innovation and creativity into your course
If you participate in this institute and are selected, the Center for Student Innovation will provide a $1,000 stipend to full-time faculty and staff who are teaching both Bridge and FYS sections during the 2023–2024 academic year (Note: Participation and stipend are subject to supervisor and HR approval and is limited).
If you have questions or would like to discuss this opportunity in more detail, please contact Christian Rogers, director, Center for Student Innovation at rogerscb@iupui.edu.
